Complementing the rich functionality of the VBN core license, VBN has developed the following applications, Enquiry Broker, Spider Search and Site Structure Management:
1. Enquiry Broker
This application is a centralised enquiry handling application that allows customer enquiries to be managed online in a distributed enquiry-handling environment. Customer enquiries can be entered into a central configurable enquiry form and then distributed out to a pre-defined set of enquiry handlers according to preference. These enquiry handlers can then include others in their processing of their response. All communications internal and back to the customer are recorded as a chain of action for an enquiry. Enquiry handlers can be made aware of each other's responses within a controlled rule set so that a coordinated response to the customer can be achieved. The system guarantees a response to the customer. Statistics are generated to measure successful enquiry handling and enquiry handler performance.
Benefits
· Improve service to customers by centralising the enquiry system
· Improve service to the customer by ensuring a coordinated response
· Avoid duplicated and uncoordinated enquiry handling across your group
· Automatically generate statistics on enquiry handling to improve the service
· Potential to charge for Enquiry Handlers to be included
2. Spider Search
This application allows searching across members' own existing websites or other websites important to the Network. For example, if you take a network with 500 organisations, the search facility will allow the browser to put in a key word which will then search (crawl) across each of the 500 members website irrespective of which technical platform they are on. This can be a general search on a key word or together with a category selection. For example, if the key word is marketing and the category is 'jobs' then typically the search result might be a number of items. When the browser selects an item, they are taken directly to the relevant page on the members' own website.
Unlike other generic search engines, Spider Search indexes all included websites regularly ensuring results are up to date. It is 'trained' weekly by VBN to continually improve performance.
Benefits: User
· Improves the value of membership as company specific content can be found by a browser searching on the Network website.
· Potential to lead to more reciprocal business for the member or help to solve a business need i.e. finding key staff.
Benefits: Editor
· Back office search allows the editor to search for content on the member's site with a view to publishing on the Network website.
· Improves the value to the member as his content is published on the central site without significant extra effort for the Editor.
· This ensures a continuous flow of new, dynamic and relevant content to help retain existing members and draw in new ones.
3. Site Structure Management
This application enables the Network Operator to manage the build and ongoing development of the structure and 'look feel' design of the website.
