What people say about VBN...
"This is groundbreaking stuff. Administrating grant applications is an extraordinarily complex process, particularly where the funds available run into millions of pounds. This unique system enables a simple online registration, eligibility checking and application process enabling us to stay on top of thousands of applications and track their progress through the system.

We are also accountable to the EU and the system will allow us to report to them effectively and to track where funds are at any point in time. We will also be able to demonstrate a huge return on investment by massively reducing our administration costs. "

Steve Cargill, Project Officer, Lincolnshire Broadband Team on the Grant Administration System developed by VBN

VBN Develops Online Resource for International Contact Lens Market
Release date: 07 Jun 2005
VBN has been appointed by Ultravision CLPL, the UK's largest independent contact lens manufacturer and supplier, to create a web based resource to facilitate the global contact lens market. Following CLPL's acquisition of Ultravision International in 2003 and the subsequent overhaul of its branding, the company is looking to VBN for an online portal to support it as it moves forward.

Ultravision CLPL specialises in R&D, patenting, intellectual property defence and licensing to third party contact lens companies. It currently distributes its products to two thirds of the UK's opticians' practices (4,000 out of 6,000) and exports to 61 countries worldwide.

The bespoke content management system will enable Ultravision CLPL to update the interface easily, enhancing communication and aligning it with the needs of customers who include qualified practitioners, hospitals and contact lens distributors. Through the provision of industry news and developments, the site will facilitate an online business resource serving not only the existing global customer base but the entire contact lens market.

The first phase of the website is due for completion in early July. In the longer term VBN will be enhancing the site to facilitate online ordering, helping Ultravision CLPL to generate revenue and deliver a valuable e-commerce service. The site will also be developed to enable customers to download product information with which to create their own customer literature.

Keith Lomas, Group President and CEO of Ultravision CLPL said: 'VBN demonstrated the required professionalism and approach to partner with us on this project and was refreshingly open with its pricing structure which gave us confidence.'

Sean Newell, CEO at VBN commented: 'We are delighted to be working with Ultravision CLPL. Our expertise spans business clusters, universities, voluntary organisations and chambers of commerce and this latest project has presented us with the opportunity to move in to the corporate arena.'

VBN has provided both the software and ongoing technical support to create and perpetuate over 100 online communities, with in excess of 100,000 users registered across its networks. Clients include the DTI, Cambridge Network, University College London and YMCA England.
