ACAMH Site Goes Live
Release date: 18 Mar 2005
VBN is proud to annouce the launch of the the Website for The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (formerly ACPP).

ACAMH Site goes live!Founded in 1956, the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health was until 18 March 2005, known as the Association for Child Psychology and Psychiatry, the name being synonymous with the five little people or 'family'. The move to the new name was a two-fold process of recognition, firstly that the Association has always drawn together people from a wide range of different backgrounds and skills and the new name reflected this multi-disciplinary membership and secondly, that the external environment was changing. The Association was established to serve the needs of its members and the wider community; those needs were changing and the new name recognised this by re-establishing its relevance to those working within child and adolescent mental health and identifying their needs.

The Association's objectives are to advance the scientific study of child and adolescent mental health and disseminate its findings through the media of meetings and publications. ACAMH achieves these by:

promoting best practice, transparency and objectivity in its seminars and presentations
supporting a strong network to bring together like-minded professionals across the world
providing training and opportunities for continuing professional development
providing access to the latest research and development findings through the medium of its publications
It is the only British affiliate of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Disciplines (IACAPAP) and has close links with the European Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) and other specialist organisations working within the sector.
