Portal will help to generate revenue and increase interaction between members
Association for Geographic Information (AGI) has chosen to work with vbn, the leading provider of online business networks to create a dynamic portal that will act as a central platform for interaction between individuals and organisations in the realm of Geographic Information. The new site will enable the AGI to provide an interface for two way communication with members and interested parties. It will also help to generate additional revenue by allowing AGI to sell goods and services such as membership and the events programme online.
The AGI has purchased netsphere, vbn's intelligent networking product offering - a unique web solution that contains all the content management, membership management, participation, and configuration tools needed to build a professional online network.
Mark Linehan, Director from the AGI said:
'We chose to work with vbn due to their unrivalled 'in-house' knowledge and experience in the planning, building and ongoing development of successful participative virtual communities.
The new site will drastically enhance our membership offer by enabling us to promote best practice in the industry and keep our members up to date with the latest industry developments. By outsourcing the design, development and hosting of what is a very complex site will help us to focus on creating engaging content that can be disseminated quickly and easily to our key audiences.'
Specifically designed to facilitate and promote online networking, vbn's highly scalable platform for AGI will include searchable event directories, threaded discussion groups and multi level access capability allowing for any number of private working groups to interact with each other.
Richard Green, Chairman of vbn said: 'It great to have won business from such a prestigious customer within our industry and it is a testament to the hard work of the vbn team who have succeeded in creating a market leading product.'
