What people say about VBN...
"This is groundbreaking stuff. Administrating grant applications is an extraordinarily complex process, particularly where the funds available run into millions of pounds. This unique system enables a simple online registration, eligibility checking and application process enabling us to stay on top of thousands of applications and track their progress through the system. We are also accountable to the EU and the system will allow us to report to them effectively and to track where funds are at any point in time. We will also be able to demonstrate a huge return on investment by massively reducing our administration costs. "
Steve Cargill, Project Officer, Lincolnshire Broadband Team on the Grant Administration System developed by VBN |

Biotechnology 'Island of Ireland' websites
The organisations:
Enterprise Ireland Biotechnology Directorate is the Irish Government's biotechnology sector development agency. Its objective is to promote economic development within the sector through working with Universities, Companies, government and non-government organisations.
The Life and Health Technologies Partnership in Northern Ireland has a similar objective on behalf of the government in Northern Ireland
Objectives for the Web Site:
To promote networking across the range of disciplines - academic, industrial, government, professional services, financial organisations
In house control of all aspects of the web site - without any hosting or technical maintenance responsibilities
Database level integration of the two individually branded web sites to allow the sharing of content and networking across both southern and northern Ireland web sites - to produce a true Ireland of Ireland perspective on Biotechnology
How VBN has helped - Enterprise Ireland Biotechnology Directorate:
The Enterprise Ireland Biotechnology Directorate website, known as www.biotechnologyireland.com went live in December 2001, 5 weeks after commissioning.
The new web site immediately attracted huge interest from all sections of the community. The Project Manager, Declan McGee, has worked tirelessly to promote the new site but is thrilled with the simplicity of the VBN 'back office' tool used for administering both the content and the members. The benefit for Declan is the time he saves whilst increasing the effectiveness of the site for his members. He can update the site daily in minutes with much of the content being provided by members!
Members have been delighted at the ease with which content (eg news, events, jobs/CVs) could be offered for publishing on the site via easy templates.
Members/browsers are drawn back to the site daily - often just to gain a 'snapshot' of their community today, knowing it will have moved on from yesterday!
How VBN has helped - BioNorthern Ireland:
Northern Ireland were keen to develop a similar e community and VBN were thrilled to develop a similar web site (www.bionorthernireland.com)and then integrate the two sites to create the 'Island of Ireland' wider biotechnology community
In effect this means that members/browsers one whichever site can see content (eg news and events) from either web site and search a 'merged' directory of members.
Why Enterprise Ireland Biotechnology Directorate chose VBN:
'We chose VBN to build the Enterprise Ireland Biotechnology Directorate website based on their experience and track record.
We weren't disappointed.
VBN have the tools to make the website work as we want it, the flexibility to incorporate our design elements and the staff to make it all happen painlessly.'
